Session 201 - A Perfect Day

Welcome to all the new folks! That was a wild ride!
This is a hell of a long recap, they're not usually quite so lengthy, but a lot happened so there it is.
Sometimes they come out earlier in the week... depends how quick I am!

Zena reaches relativistic speeds.
RJ achieves blood poisoning.
Styx slaps his followers so they feel better.
Dumbledorris turns a witch's brain to powder.
Flaming Fury is invited to dance.
Snels meets his dead mother.
The Necromancer grabs a reality-breaking orb.
The Elf sees her new friends stop someone from stopping the apocalypse.

Session 201 - A Perfect Day

Campaign Date:

- Snels, a haberdasher with a suspiciously dark past and a mysterious aptitude for killing.

New Backstory:
- When Dumbledorris had to sneak into the demon dinner party to steal their stuff, she had to kill a man in a giant bird costume to use it as a disguise. He pleaded for his life… she killed and ate him. (When you strike the killing blow on a creature, heal 1 HP per HD of the victim).

- A perfect day
- It’s a beautiful day outside of the cave. The sun shines, the trees grow tall and strong, the flowers wave in the low breeze. (50 exp)
- Something is very fucking wrong. (50 exp)



- Inside the cave people are waking up to a wonderful new reality. Styx is a hook-nosed human man instead of a goblin, his children are all his loving progeny. Flaming Fury is not a dwarf, but a husky human woman with beautiful red hair. (50 exp)
- Weirdest of all, Styx’s party of disciples have got no faces. They just stand around the cave spouting the same few lines of dialogue. What the hell is going on?! (50 exp) - When Styx slaps them with his robo-hand, they return to normal, but only for as long as he keeps touching them. (50 exp)



- Zena, one of the few who hasn’t been somehow transformed, puts on her truth-vision glasses and sees the real horrible world blurrily overlaid over the “perfect” world. It’s still the apocalypse. The sky burns with beams from heaven, rain pelts down from a broken sky, tentacles tear the earth asunder. (50 exp)



- Styx tries too with his own anti-magic goggles and gets a similar effect. He also takes stock of his stuff. His angel robot is fine in this new reality, but the controls are different. Break, the goblin in the metal robot suit, is a sort of Tin Man contruct. (50 exp)
- There is a yell from outside! Running down the trail towards the cave is a chubby acne-ridden teen with several pairs of glasses. He sounds like…. RJ the giant man-spider??? (50 exp)
- From the other direction, a weird looking dude with a pair of scissors approaches. He’s got a pocketful of buttons and looks, while sketchy, somehow also immediately trustworthy. He’s also got a yellow exclamation mark over his head. Snels joins the party! (50 exp)
--- Search for answers
- After more experimentation and debate, the decision is made to investigate what’s causing this situation. Especially since walking away from the epicentre makes everything less “real” and more generic. (50 exp)
- Snels knows the way. He’s from around here, and his town’s been changed somehow. Everything’s perfect and generic but some of the people walking around died years ago?! (50 exp)
- The trip to the town is completely generic. The trees all seem to be similar. Wandering off the trail into the forest reveals generic forest that gets less realistic as you get deeper, until it’s just evenly spaced identical trees with bare flat earth between. It seemingly goes on forever. (50 exp)
- Returning to the trail, they keep going until the reach the little town of Chavsby. It’s a very standard RPG town. There’s an inn. There’s a blacksmith that didn’t used to be here. Everyone standing around just says the same few lines over and over. It’s spooky. (50 exp)
- Dumbledorris uses her copying ability to copy the body of an old lady. Her face remains her own, so she hides it under her shawl. (50 exp)
- Thinking that they should probably head to the tavern and pretend to meet there for the first time so a mysterious stranger will give them a starter quest, the party walk towards the inn. (50 exp)
- In front of it is a square with a gibbet with a very dead corpse hanging from it. The townspeople are ignoring it, but this lady was fucking ruined. Cut in half, dismembered, hanged, it’s brutal. (50 exp)



--- Witches get stitches
- A man in the square under is yelling about how witches are destroying the town! Nobody’s listening to him, and he keeps lapsing into confusion. (50 exp)
- Styx approaches to talk to him but he keeps glitching and saying generic dialogue between his attempts at explanation. Styx hits him with an angel limb… and the anti-magic field works! He can speak! (50 exp)
- His name is Kyrkwode. He’s hunting down witches in the town, but the curse is making it very difficult because nobody will help! He’s very confused, but he recognises Snels at least. (50 exp)
- Zena and Flaming Fury inspect the corpse in the meantime. The villagers around it keep repeating the same lines about the witches at the priory outside Caversdale and red orb that landed nearby. (50 exp)
- RJ spends some time at the generic RPG store buying generic items off of a list. Might as well make use of janky RPG mechanics while the going is good! (50 exp)
- Snels decides to go past his childhood home and… holy shit his mum is alive! She died years ago! She tells him she loves him, then Styx sees what happens if he pokes her with his anti-magic robot finger. (50 exp)
- She dies instantly. Her corpse collapses to the ground. There are suspicious scissor marks on her flesh. Snels tries to look like he doesn’t know what killed her. (50 exp)
- Heading for the house of the dead accused witch, they find that it’s “real” inside. Rather than a generic house, they find a home with lots of mess and memorabilia and signs of struggle. (50 exp)
- Flaming Fury finds a velvet bag under the bed after a thorough search. Inside is an ivory ring set with 10 black beads - only two are shining. Inspecting it reveals flavour text in her mind that implies the ring can force a person to kill another. (50 exp)



--- Press start to join
- Styx talks to generic townsfolk and they keep repeating the thing about red orbs flying from the priory. He manages to find a minimap on his angel’s new control scheme which shows not only the local area but also the locations of three red orbs! Easy! (50 exp)
- They head to the location of an orb that’s landed nearby, and stumble across a couple of people who are investigating it. One is a puppeteer, the other a former servant turned Necromancer. They join the party! (50 exp)
- The orb is floating above the ground and slowly moving away to the south. A distorted vision of the real apocalyptic world can be seen behind it, and around it the world becomes more perfect. (50 exp)



- The new Necromancer, Jeff, grabs the orb and takes it back through towards the town. It pulls lightly but constantly back to the south. Reality distorts in a bow wave in front of the orb, crashing the perfect world down around it. (50 exp)
- The town falls back into a post-apocalyptic ruin, the world in front of the orb morphing into platonic ideals before melting away into reality. It’s nuts. (50 exp)
--- The hemisphere
- The further north the party goes, the more the orb pushes away from it. Soon they reach the little town of Caversdale. Despite the orbs’ presence it stays as it is! (50 exp)
- There is a large pink hemisphere just outside of town, very out of place in this perfect world. Zena looks at it through her truth-glasses and sees the priory. Whirling burning tornadoes spiral across the land around it. (50 exp)
- Getting closer to the hemisphere makes the pink dome begin to blow back like smoke, constantly being replenished. It’s too difficult for just one man to push the sphere in closer though. (50 exp)
- Styx takes the orb in his angel-bot’s hands and, with some trepidation, begins to push it in towards the bubble. The dome is blown back more and more until it finally dissipates completely! (50 exp)



- Styx boldly declares that “Styx, chosen of the nine divines, declares this place freed!!!” (50 exp)
- The rest of the party follows him into the area now freed of the bubble. Several buildings surround a small church. As they cross the threshold they find that the world outside disappears and is replaced by a starry void. They stand on a chunk of earth hurtling through space. (50 exp)
--- The Priory
- They decide to walk towards the main church and see what’s going on, but as they walk past one of the buildings a huge warrior with an enormous sword dripping with blood and gleaming white armour steps out from a building! (50 exp)
- “WHO GOES THERE?!” he booms. At the sight of several women the man introduces himself as Sir Latimer. He explains that he serves Orelia Woolcott who is saving the world by returning things to how they should be! (50 exp)
- He is extremely impressed with Zena, to the chagrin of Flaming Fury. (50 exp)
- Zena asks him to take the group to his liege, Orelia Woolcott. He says that he will, but also says “mind the sausages!” to general mirth. He takes it on the chin. (50 exp)
- Following Sir Latimer, the group walks towards the central priory. On the way they pass by the cloister, where a great table is arrayed with a great feast. The only guest is a man made of sausages wearing the cloak of a priest. (50 exp)
--- Sausage Party
- Zena can’t stay away from sausages! All she’s had to eat for the past month is dried meats, muesli, and the occasional fillet of monster meat! A whole man made of sausage is impossible to resist! (50 exp)
- She approaches the sausage-man. Around her, hallucinations of hungry people fall upon the table and cram sweet fruits into their mouths. Juice drips from their lips, bloody and raw in their ruthless appetite. (50 exp)
- Zena ignores them, touches the

Zena is alone.
She looks up. She is on the little spit of land contained within the cloister. The stars whirl and whorl above her head. She orbits around a distant impossible congeries of smoke and fire and spheres. It pulses with inner light.
A voice speaks inside her mind, beyond comprehension, blasting into her mind. Somehow, the worlds-distant form focuses itself on her. Thoughts are blasted into incomprehension and

--- The Priory
- “I said to mind the sausages” says Sir Latimer. There is far less mirth. (50 exp)
- To the rest of the party, Zena walked into the cloister and vanished. The man of sausages slumps over, the sausage links spilling over the table of plenty. (50 exp)
- They avert their eyes and continue into the church. Surely Zena of all people can make her way out of magic bullshit unscathed. (50 exp)
- Sir Latimer reaches the main doors of the church, pulls them open, and stands aside to let the party through. It is not his place to enter the inner sanctum. (50 exp)
- The majority of the party enters, but at the sound of screams from a nearby building RJ and Snels peel off to investigate. (50 exp)
--- Inside the Church
- The church has been destroyed and remade. The pews have been repurposed, creating a huge central stage. Dancers whirl and spin in a great spiralling dance. At the centre is a woman who is nude save for a single red sash around her waist. (50 exp)
- The dancers on the outer edge of the circular stage are clearly in the later stages of pregnancy. As the party watches, one of the pregnant dancers falls from the stage and is caught by attendant nuns who rush her past the party and towards the infirmary outside. (50 exp)
- Flaming Fury tries to yell to the woman in the centre of the stage, and another woman appears apparently from beneath the stage. She’s got an eyepatch and very fancy piratical clothes - real cool stuff. She calls herself Demeter. (50 exp)
- She says she won’t speak in front of men, but luckily everyone here is a lady. They all look at Styx, who puts on a falsetto. (50 exp)
- They begin to speak, Demeter evangelising about how Orelia Woolcott is saving the world by summoning the muse Terpsichore and rewriting reality to how it was meant to be! (50 exp) - The more people enter the dance, the more real the world becomes. Won't you join them? (50 exp)--- The Infirmary
- Meanwhile, RJ and Snels have followed the sounds of screams into the Infirmary. Nuns rush past from the church, barging through with a woman going into labour. (50 exp)
- Inside the room is dim, a long trough contains many babies with no hands or feet. They don’t cry, but watch balefully from the long cot. Elderly nuns look after the women as they go through labour, then help them get back to the dance. (50 exp)
- One of the nuns turns to RJ and vomits forth a great pool of red viscous goop. She deflates as it tears itself from her throat, leaving her skin behind. (50 exp)



- Another nun sees this and yells, “Don’t kill it! Please!” even as it leaps onto a pregnant woman and pops her belly like a bubble, feasting on her flesh. (50 exp)
- RJ declares “I’ve always wanted to try blood pudding!” and leaps at the blood monster mouth-first, extending his spidery mandibles. The monster gloops aside, making him bite the woman instead! Already dying, the poison finishes her off quickly. (50 exp)
- Snels ignores the whole horrid scene and picks up the nun’s fallen skin. It’s perfect. So perfect. Wonderful material for clothes. (50 exp)
- RJ gets swiped by a jagged shard of bone and gristle, but manages to sink his poison fangs into the blood monster! It squirms and struggles in its death throes, sending bits of dead lady flying everywhere and RJ flying back! (50 exp)



- The nuns and women are screaming, it’s chaos, so RJ runs out of the infirmary. Snels snags a quiet baby on the way out. In the sky they see something falling, accompanied by a low rumble of successive sonic booms… (50 exp)

Zena struggles to comprehend what she is experiencing. She grasps for understanding, and the voice screaming in her head becomes comprehensible.
In the vast emptiness of the void, the smoke and spheres coalesce into a giant woman with Zena’s face. It is bigger than the sun. Zena orbits an image of herself.



Her nose begins to bleed, the blood streaming away into space.
The entity asks WHAT DO YOU WANT
Zena replies GIVE ME THE POWER TO SAVE OUR UNIVERSE
It asks her to open her mind. She tries, and the entity comes screaming into her thoughts.
She can feel its power, and behind it, a true wish to help.
Zena screams SEND ME BACK HOME and the words echo in her head. A hand made up of smoke and spheres, bigger than planets, thrusts towards her.
It hits, shattering the land around her, sending her speeding through space at an impossible speed. Stars become streaks around her, and far far away a blue dot rapidly speeds towards her.
She hits Earth’s atmosphere hard. Her body burning up, a falling star. Her ears are blown out by her own sonic booms. It barely slows her down.
What remains of her corpse slams into the earth, hard, at an appreciable fraction of the speed of light.
The ground beneath her explodes, leaving a huge crater. Somewhere nearby, RJ and Snels wonder what the hell just made that enormous bang.

--- Inside the Church
- Orelia Woolcott is dancing towards the main party, the dancers flowing around her in perfect harmony. Demeter stands back to allow her to get closer. Her body is imperfect and bears the marks of many pregnancies, but she holds it proudly. (50 exp)
- Standing and spinning on the edge of the stage, Orelia holds a hand out to Flaming Fury and invites her to dance. (50 exp)
- There is a moment of indecision before Flaming Fury unleashes latent magical power! She throws faerie fire at Orelia, but as it hits her it refracts and changes into Feather Fall! (50 exp)
- Orelia leaps gracefully from the stage, floating slowly to the ground. Behind her, the pace of the dancing increases drastically. Magic spells begin to fall from the dancers on the stage. (50 exp)
- Strapped to the witch’s wrist is a short wooden wand, she waves it towards Flaming Fury and she feels her organs begin to calcify… but she resists! (50 exp)
- Dumbledorris uses her recently-acquired mirror ability to shapeshift into a copy of Orelia! She looks down at her wrist and sees the wand, then thrusts it towards Orelia’s brain! (50 exp)
- Orelia chokes, her skull caving in slightly. White ash falls from her ears and nose as she falls the last few feet to the floor, entirely dead. (50 exp)
- I honestly expected that to be more difficult. (50 exp)
- Dumbledorris, keen to steal her powers, immediately turns into a meaty slush to digest Orelia’s corpse. Styx and Flaming Fury quickly pluck the wand and magic sash from her corpse before they get digested too. (50 exp)
- There is a sound like an explosion outside as Dumbledorris begins to form back into human form once more. She looks delighted since she’s stolen the ability to make a group of dancers cast magic. (50 exp)
- The group leaves the church swiftly as reality begins to fall apart around them, replacing the happy-ish world with the terrible apocalyptic nightmare world we know and love.
- The world outside is being replaced. Blue skies covered over by grey clouds and pounding rain. Out the front of the church, Sir Latimer weeps on his knees in the mud. His glowing armour and massive sword replaced by a battered chain shirt and a greatsword. (50 exp)
--- The Crater
- Just outside the priory, RJ and Snels are investigating the newly formed crater. They are joined soon after by the rest of the triumphant party, who look into the smoking crater in confusion. (50 exp)
- The rain beats down, making it hard to see what’s moving in there. The smoke is swirling around something crawling from the crater! (50 exp)
- They recoil in horror from the thing which emerges. A brain, a face, two human hands and two human feet, all connected by writhing coils of grey smoke. (50 exp)
- They look at the face and see… Zena! It’s her! She stands, wreathed in smoke, and looks at her new body. (50 exp)
- “Fuck”. (50 exp)
