Perhaps it's not so strange that Ereshkigal is trying to physically reunite the earth and the moon...

See you tonight!!

Session 205 - Mass Conversion

Campaign Date:
Wednesday 3rd June, 1601
Moon Phase: Waning Gibbous
Zenith: Eris
Zodiac: Taurus

New Characters:
- Oliver Snels, brother of the now-remade Adam Snels, shanker of at least one drug farmer, and self-declared Puritan Barbarian.
- Abhor Global, a contingent of news reporter Extras under the command of one Johnny Mallet
New Backstory:
- Antez was laughed at on the street for his “cool” goth outfit when he was a teenager and was just getting into Necromancy. The style really didn’t work for him. (Once per session, make someone you’ve met before laugh at you, stunning them for a round)

- Glycon showed a friend her Elvish features when she first began to turn into an Elf. In fear, they fled. Glycon found their body later, dead of exposure in the snow. She was blamed for their death. (When a henchman dies under your command, get +2 to Saves for 10 minutes) - Snels’ father sank into alcoholism after his wife died at Snels’ hands. He was a depressed drunk and never truly recovered. (+1 Con)

Events:
--- Snels offers himself to the fleshcrafters
- In the chaos of the dramatic events of last week, nobody noticed Snels peeling off from the group. (50 exp)
- He made his way to the Impound of Flesh, the punishment factory where criminals are sent to be remade for their crimes. (50 exp)
- He stands at the edge of the great pit of whirring metal that surrounds the squat Field of Abominance in the centre. The crowds that usually gather to see the latest punishments fled when the city began to restructure. (50 exp)
- He shanks himself right through the hands and feet as stigmata, then with Paul’s Letter to the Corinthians on his lips he leaps from the precipice and falls into the pit. (50 exp)
- Before he can be ground up in the mincing gears, a huge mechanical body unfolds from the pit wall, reaching out with a huge net between its reticulated limbs. (50 exp)

- It enfolds him and takes him inside the walls of the pit. He is carried through grinding dark until he reaches a small room with brass walls. The big mechanical man asks him to confess his sins, and asks how he would wish to be reborn. (50 exp)
- He answers that he wishes to be remade as a champion of Hyper-Jesus. A panel slides open to reveal a nun with long long fingers and a stapled-on face. She enters and declares that she will remake Snels! (50 exp)
- Snels punches her in the face. He wanted to see Hyper-Jesus! She takes it on the chin, and calmly leads him towards an operating table. He will be remade… (50 exp)
--- Mortlocke and the Datsun
- Mortlocke has finally returned! Last time we saw him he was in Dwimmermount, so he regales the party with his tale of meeting his mate from college and riding to Fate in his Datsun 180 after a stay in a bed and breakfast run by a couple of trolls. (50 exp)
- Did that really happen? Or was he driven by Guber with a brief stay at Oshregaal’s? He’ll never tell. (50 exp)
--- Fate in retreat
- In Sir Robyn’s office, the party discusses their next moves. Time freezes occasionally as the great city turns, cushioning the impacts of its massive legs. (50 exp)
- They decide to go to speak to Hyper-Jesus, and as soon as they state that intention a Hyper-Jesus hologram manifests in the room! It’s a smooth ovoid with a cross that always seems to face you. (50 exp)

- POWERLAD and Galaxy Johnson praise him, and ask his intentions. Why retreat from the battlefield? Styx calls it before he says it - he’s heading to Dwimmermount to claim his physical body. Besides, the battle between Ereshkigal and the prime tentacle has already concluded, they need to get away from the dragon’s gravity well. (50 exp)

- He secretly whispers to POWERLAD that he should destroy Galaxy Johnson - elves must be destroyed if humanity is to survive. POWERLAD deflects to dragons and asks Hyper-Jesus if he’d join Ninhursag’s drakencult. (50 exp)
- Hyper-Jesus is first reluctant, but comes around to POWERLAD’s strong argument that he’d be at a disadvantage if he refuses the might of a dragon. (50 exp)

- Galaxy Johnson asks about Hyper-Jesus’ control of the city. He’s working on it, but he’s still finding and taking control of subsystems. The city is old, older than this civilisation at least, and in the long intervening years it’s been abused and altered by occupants that didn’t exactly know what they were doing. (50 exp)
- With Hyper-Jesus’ permission to convert the populace to Ninhursag’s Drakencult, they set off for the main cathedral of Fate, the Church of Nine Corners. (50 exp)
- On the way to the Church of Nine Corners, Galaxy Johnson stops in at a bookshop to grab a heap of copies of POWERLAD romance novels. (50 exp)
- Leaving with a sackful, the most important change is that each book now has a rune-magic stencil in it as promo material for Ninhursag... (50 exp)

--- Snels Reborn
- In the Field of Abominance in the raised centre of the Impound of Flesh, a new statue has been unveiled. A statue of Terms Termax, the man who became Hyper-Jesus, crouched in permanent prayer. In the chest, a glass jar holds the brain of Snels. (50 exp)
- He can only speak in Psalms, eternally looking out over the field with eyes that never close. The long-fingered nun smirks at him, pleased with her work. Truly he will be able to worship Hyper-Jesus forever more. (50 exp)
--- In the Deep City
- Styx continues to foment rebellion. In the city’s lowest station, the Deep City, he gets off the rollercoaster-esque train and looks around. His disciples fan out protectively. (50 exp)
- This station is deep beneath the Sciotherico. The air smells of hot metal and oil and steam. This is where the dregs of the city end up, those poor rotten souls who couldn’t afford their Variable Rent. The destitute live among the goblins and ratmen of the under-city… a perfect melange of simmering resentment that should be easy to push over into full-blown riot. (50 exp)
- He soon finds what he’s looking for - a Maintenance team. They’re always recruiting. He talks to one quietly and finds out they’re a secret Nonanist and knows other Nonanist sympathisers. The resistance was just waiting for a spark! (50 exp)

- Styx is also told of the traditional entrance to the Brasshell - the megadungeon innards in the belly of Fate - and that there’s a secret black market down there. (50 exp)
- The maintenance man goes off to whisper that Styx the Goblin Messiah is here to raise the meek to glory, and Styx and his disciples spread out to light the spark of rebellion… (50 exp)

--- POWERLAD proselytises
-  The main group reaches the Church of Nine Corners in good time. Galaxy Johnson’s sack of books is held in his shadow-tendril arms. The courtyard in front of the cathedral is peaceful and grand. (50 exp)
- There are crowds gathered here, all in search of answers. Is Hyper-Jesus really in control of the city? Why are we moving away from the tentacle? What does this mean for us? (50 exp)
- POWERLAD ascends the steps in front of the Church and activates his Size-based superpowers. He grows twice as big, and twice again, towering over the courtyard! A giant blue man, absolutely ripped, crackling with energy! (50 exp)
- The crowds look on in awe, the famous POWERLAD! Here! Hanging from his belt is the creepy shadow-Elf and famous author Galaxy Johnson, tossing signed books out into the crowd! There’s even a free stencil inside! (50 exp)
- POWERLAD booms out a cry for attention, and a hush settles. He declares that Hyper-Jesus has indeed taken over this city, and that everyone must join the Drakencult of Ninhursag if they are to help Hyper-Jesus save the world! (50 exp)
- At that, the red-gold ovoid head of Hyper-Jesus is projected above POWERLAD’s head, exhorting the crowd to listen to His chosen! The crowd fall to their knees in prayer! (50 exp)

- But what’s this? William Fox-Pipp is here with his posh friends from the Cullingdon Club! They push through the crowds and onto the steps, shouting “he’s no god!” and harsher blasphemies. (50 exp)
- The wrath of Maximum Godhead Hyper-Jesus is focused entirely on the blasphemers. The manifestation of Hyper-Jesus begins to sing, a woman’s voice backing him, and angels descend from above to orbit around the giant POWERLAD in a halo. (50 exp)
- Those who can understand Angelic Binary can understand the override signal embedded in the song. Hyper-Jesus is using the god Eris’ angel control codes. (50 exp)
- It’s dramatic and humbling and a true image of the divine… so William Fox-Pipp starts dancing. This is his final disrespect - the angels deploy their beam-cannons and blast him into oblivion, along with his toff friends. He doesn’t even try to resist. (50 exp)
- The bodies tumble down the steps in front of the shocked crowd. “So perish all enemies of Terms Termax!” declares POWERLAD, then asks those who wish to join Ninhursag to step forward and be baptised. (50 exp)

- Several people stand, then more and more as POWERLAD begins inducting them en masse. Cries of “traitor!” and “false prophet!” and “Hyper-Jesus would never allow the worship of a dragon!”  come from Styx’s rebels, but it’s not enough to dissuade a crowd won over by the holy display they witnessed. (50 exp)
- The new converts form a line and as the masses are converted POWERLAD gets flashes of Ninhursag rising faster. Much of Moondin is on fire as the lava lake overflows, drakencult fight to hold it back in the populated areas. Ninhursag’s great head turns east… (50 exp)
--- Time Passes
- Antez and Glycon are indoctrinated into the Drakencult of Ninhursag! Praise the great green dragon! (50 exp)
- The rebellion from below continues to grow. There are flare-ups of conflict in the city, but there is no clear rule of law post-takeover and Hyper-Jesus has access to few angels to enforce peace. (50 exp)
- Mortlocke decides that he will become a Zeanist, the rival drug-happy cult that worships Hyper-Jesus and is barely tolerated in this city. Drugs though innit. (50 exp)
- POWERLAD declares that weed is now legal! One of my favourite running gags. Of course, weed is already legal, so he takes a bunch of people to appropriate a supply from the Drug Farms and says weed is now mandatory! Styx portrays this in a bad light, naturally. (50 exp)
- The Elves in the party - Galaxy Johnson and Glycon - feel a strange quickening. Something strange is happening to the moon, it’s getting closer and quicker as Ereshkigal’s gravity well continues to grow. (50 exp)
- The gravity well is really fucking up the prime tentacle, constantly ripping the top from the endlessly-regenerating limb. It’s in a bad way, the tentacle looks cancerous and rotten. Distantly, whenever another chunk of sodden flesh is sucked from the tentacle it’s surrounded by a brief spray of white blobs. The tentacle parasites are in deep. (50 exp)
- Oliver Snels, brother to the now-enstatued Snels, makes his way through the city in a rage. He blames POWERLAD for his brother’s remaking. He will find Hyper-Jesus and confront him! (50 exp)
--- Messiah vs Messiah
- After days of fomenting rebellion, Styx and his disciples have used their informers in Maintenance to find a hidden access hatch into the Sciotherico and Hyper-Jesus’ throne room. (50 exp)
- Oliver Snels is with them, hoping to punish Hyper-Jesus for his part in corrupting his brother. (50 exp)
- They leave the access hatch and emerge into the throne room. Where the throne used to be is a peeled-back many-layered sphere, the face-cross of Terms Termax upon it. (50 exp)
- Oliver Snels rushes in with his shank, stabbing at the great metal face, but his attacks do nothing. It’s like trying to stab a wall to death. (50 exp)
- Hyper-Jesus projects his hologram from the floor, floating in front of Styx, and asks him just why he is here. Oliver Snels shanks the projection, and each time the projection shatters and reforms elsewhere. (50 exp) - A hemispherical brass shell snaps shut around the area, locking them in. Styx falls back on his ultimate ability - chatting to baddies. (50 exp)

- It’s somewhat annoying to hold a conversation when a man keeps angrily running around slashing at your projection, but it doesn’t seem to bother Him. (50 exp)
- Styx and Hyper-Jesus talk out their differences. Hyper-Jesus believes that there can be no true peace for Man while Goblins and Elves and all the other inhuman races threaten them from without and within. (50 exp)
- Styx counters that Goblins would be a huge help to humanity if the world has to recover. They breed quickly, and there’s no reason they can’t work together to create a better world. (50 exp)

- The conversation goes on for some time, and even becomes reasonable. After a particularly manic attack from Oliver Snels, Hyper-Jesus says he’ll let him go and get his brother’s brain if he wants, and gives him the lot number where he can be found. Oliver Snels leaves to find his brother. (50 exp)
- The upshot of the conversation is that Hyper-Jesus will agree to spare Goblins when the time comes to eject the filth from Fate. Surely it’s better to work together? (50 exp)
- The angel control module is discussed, and Hyper-Jesus requests access to it so he can copy its functionality. Increased functionality for the both of them! It would be great! (50 exp)
- Styx tells Him that he's conveniently got a spare, they can share! Cables grow from Hyper-Jesus' throne and enmesh the module as the doors, covered by smooth brass, clink back and open. Perhaps Hyper-Jesus isn’t so bad after all! (50 exp)
