Session 68 - Fear

Next week's regular pub sesh has been cancelled due to the Christmas period, so Ollie has booked us into the Lamb Tavern.

Session 68 - Fear

Events:
- A ragtag band of fools ascended Mt Death Frost, hunting old gold and lost family and eternal life. (50 exp)
- They met an old man in a ramshackle hut. He told them that the place atop the mountain was cursed and attempted to stop them climbing to their doom. They stabbed him and burnt him and left his still-burning corpse in the snow (50 exp)
- They reached a graveyard past a grim hanging tree. They stole the hangman's noose and one carved their name into the bark. It bled human blood. (50 exp)
- They peered into the house on the mountain, finding it made of woodgrained stone and covered in writing in a tongue long forgotten. (50 exp)
- The back door was swinging open, footprints leading away through the snow, so they entered. Inside was a bedroom with abandoned climbing gear. They stole it all. (50 exp)
- They explored the house further, finding a painting of themselves and a huge skin-bound book filled with names. A deer's head on the wall had glassy eyes. They took those too. (50 exp)
- The trapdoor sprang open with a scream, and they lowered the Dwarf down to take a look. She found a hallway of screaming faces. They followed. (50 exp)
- The hallway ended in a door with a demon-faced lock. They opened it and entered a room of left hands, then emerged into a doomed chapel strung with twelve skulls. (50 exp)
- The skulls began dropping as they explored further in, finding a door and an altar and a basin full of teeth. The chapel's dark organ claimed the life of the Cleric when he tinkled the keys, dying in a burst of yellow mold. They used his teeth as an offering to open the door. (50 exp)
- Inside there was a crossroads, and a singing static noise could be heard. There was an entrance to an embalming room of some kind. A book within detailed the creation of flesh constructs and countless bones. (50 exp)
- A strange door unlocked when a wheel was turned, inside there were countless bodies interred behind smooth ice. On the ground, a dead Dwarf whose hands were closed around a smooth sphere, wearing armour and clothes unfamiliar. (50 exp)
- Skulls continued to fall as they continued to explore, finding a crypt full of even more bodies. They desecrated corpses for treasure, and found a musical score entitled The Core Remains. (50 exp)
- They found a room of strange history books and an ocular device that allowed them to be read. They stole it and left. (50 exp)
- At the end of the hallway a further vault door was found. They opened it and found an eye whose pupil was many eyes. Two turned back to investigate a second door from the chapel, two ascended to the surface to play the Core Remains on the harpsichord in the house, two kept going. (50 exp)
- The two who kept going saw a man's jellied head framed in the door singing the static. The two who went to the surface tried the harpsichord, it didn't play a note. One of those two descended to try the pipe organ. We end on a cliffhanger. (50 exp)

Session 67 - Red Dead

Apologies for the delay on this one! I spent the following two nights on from DnD drunk which unfortunately precludes writing a recap, and now I'm in Italy and sliced my hand open trying to open a bottle of wine (for full story, see my facebook wall!)
There is a higher-than-average chance that I will forget something, so apologies in advance! Especially since I left my notes back home.
You are now more or less redeemed, although no doubt your names will be spread far and wide.
Next session we will have nearly caught up to the date in the real world which is interesting! Or interesting to me at any rate...
I started the calendar at February 17 last year, and due to the way time tends to stretch or contract in D&D the dates have been sliding around all over the place!
Anyway, spookily the date on which the timelines align is close to Halloween. ooOOooOooOoooo.
Next session will be a special spooky Halloween one-shot set approximately 10 years before the present campaign date, in a time before there were all these Necromancers and skeletons and stuff roaming around. Dun dun duuuuun.

Session 67 - Red Dead

Campaign Date:

Events:
- Force of horse guards rides out of Galth, surrounds party to arrest them and await trial. (50 exp)
- Negotiations beak down fairly quickly, Bingo punches the ground and puts most of the guards to sleep. The captain flees towards backup. (50 exp)
- Sleeping guards' horses are running amok, but several are caught and tanned by party members who flee on horseback and in wagon. (50 exp)
- Bingo and Lulu, assuming they aren't as easily implicated as the rest, head to Fate to grab the necklace for Priscilla. (50 exp)
- On the way there they see a skirmish between army and necromancer warbands outside a village. Lulu runs through and kills the lead necromancer, but her sword maxes out on blood and she goes berserk. (50 exp)
- Bingo flees, returning an hour later to find a bloodbath. They save the village from the remaining undead... but receive no thanks. (50 exp)
- Fate is reached and Bingo, as the person who isn't a barely in control red rage monster, goes inside to grab necklace from bank vault. (50 exp)
- He meets up with Slim Jimmy, known fence with underworld connections, and negotiates a deal to clear the party's name. 50 gold and the head of the vivimancer witch and he can wrangle a pardon. (50 exp)
- Bingo buys a bunch of gunpowder as he leaves, travels back to group with Lulu. Party re-enter Priscilla's home dungeon (50 exp)
- John Doe goes in with necklace, rest of party waits in entrance chamber with many barrels of gunpowder. (50 exp)
- Priscilla is grateful, has entire cat for head. Also grateful about return of real head. Says she'll unscramble John's limbs easy enough, but the head has a 25% chance if death. (50 exp)
- John accepts risks, wants the head done too. He dies on the operating table. His last screamed word "pineapple!" is trigger for party to blow gunpowder, they do so and the entrance to the hill collapses. (50 exp)
- Party re-enter via fissure after waiting a while to heal and come to terms with the death. They explore and find the place is gutted, and when entering one room come face to invisible face with John Revenant the Lethal Dandy. (50 exp)
- John attacks but is killed with holy water. Bingo takes his large knife. (50 exp)
- Hall with collapsed flesh goliath thing found, party enter Priscilla's chambers to find John Doe's armored but headless body and an empty room. The armour rattles to life and goes straight for Lulu. (50 exp)
- Awkwardly, John Revenant's cursed knife chooses this moment to start shanking Bingo, who handily jams it into a crack in the ground (50 exp)
- John Doe's armour is finally taken down by a concerted effort of fighting force, and his fleshy regains have been chunked by Stabbington swirling his sword around in there. (50 exp)
- With John Doe's head in their hands, the party decides to use their dead friend as a scapegoat and say he was demonically controlling them to commit vile acts. Sounds legit! (50 exp)

Session 66 - An Auspicious Session Number To Turn Evil On

Alriiiight here's your session report!
The general spiral into infamy continues with John Doe making a deal with a baddie in order to get his body re-rearranged.

Next session we're back at the Mad Hatter, the venue was fine but no plug! I was amused to see the interest the bar staff had in our game. 
I'm also officially closing our doors to newbies for the next while, there are a few other open tables opening up and we're definitely at capacity!

I'll be taking a leaf out of the hydra-dog's book if we have 6+ players in future, and split the group into a couple of sub-groups. A caller in each group will tell me what's going down, so hopefully that should make it more manageable for me and keep people from feeling left out until I get round to them!

Session 66 - An Auspicious Session Number To Turn Evil On

- Some sort of dog-hydra, defeated chiefly via fire (750 exp)
- A single man-bat, killed by ricocheting crossbow bolt (25 exp)

Events:
- Party ascends staircase filled with rapidly setting acid sludge, find themselves face to face with two-headed creature made of a large lizard body and dog heads. (50 exp)
- Battle is joined and John Doe, stuffed into a hole by man-bats, sees everything start to kick off below. (50 exp)
- Chopping off both heads results in spray of acid sludge from neck holes, melting several more barbarians as two more heads predictably emerge from each neck hole. (50 exp)
- John Doe attaches to ceiling and swings overhead with flame sword, attacking hydra body. Disturbed bats attack him at end of each arc of swing (50 exp)
- Zea lobs his lantern at the creature, burning one of the heads off (50 exp)
- John Doe swings down and lops off two heads at once with his flaming sword, they don't grow back. He drags the beast by its tail towards the ceiling and Stabbington shanks it in the side. (50 exp)
- Acidic bile sprays from the wound and pours over the floor, man-bats swarm to feast, party fucks off down the stairs for a break. (50 exp)

Session 65 - Priestknobs and Broomsticks

So firstly and most importantly - Happy birthday Ollie! I was meant to send this yesterday and so it would have been timely, but alas it has been sitting in Drafts.

Secondly, our usual Mad Hatter venue has been wrested from the grip of the D&D Meetup group next week (13th October).
Apparently the guy who books the space does it in blocks, and a random group booked it out before he booked the next batch. Oh well!

So we'll go with that unless somebody has any strenuous objections or strong opinions on the place.

Session 65 - Priestknobs and Broomsticks

Events:
- Unwilling to go sell their loot in Fortress City Fate due to having just murdered a bunch of cops, the party offloads their loot to Lulu and co who have just shown up. (50 exp)
- While Lulu's group heads off to the city, the rest decide to head to head off into the countryside before word spreads of their alleged misdeeds. (50 exp)
- The walled town of Galth seems to be a staging post for the army and a refugee camp for those escaping the undead. In the hopes of curing John Doe, they head to the cathedral. (50 exp)
- Lulu's group reach Fate, Jojo immediately runs off to find the zoo while the others deposit cash into the bank and dump the other assets into a safe deposit box. (50 exp)
- Jojo finds an elephant, attempts to mind control it. The elephant becomes enraged and starts trying to batter down the gate, so Jojo goes and repeats her mind-control trick on a bear with similar results. She flees as the elephant rampages. (50 exp)
- In Galth, the main party has entered the cathedral and find much of the place is being used as a refugee shelter. John Doe's abhorrent form means he's passed all the way up the chain to talk to the Bishop himself, who says the best surgeons are in Fate. (50 exp)
- Mana, true to form, tries to pickpocket the Bishop and steal his chain of office. She succeeds, feeling his genitals in the process, although her attempt to knock him out and steal his clothes in plain sight of the entire cathedral is less successful (50 exp)
- Stabbington quietens the angry crowd with a noble speech, Mana is forced to return the stolen property and leave. Lulu's group turns up at this point and the rejoined party leaves at speed. (50 exp)
- A rumour heard at Galth states that there is someone, or something, creating giant fleshy horrors in the Lumps, the hills to the south. The party sets off, and John Doe nurses the faint hope that a fleshcrafter might fix him. (50 exp)
- A roaming band of soldiers is encountered, including a couple of muscle-pound preachers with bandoliers of holy water. They give a few vials of holy water when they find out the plan to raid the Lumps.
- A group of barbarians from Lulu's tribe are found on the road to the Lumps, armed with what they call anti-witch poison. They join the party. (50 exp)
- A swarm of bats and broomstick-riding witches swarming over one particular hill catch the group's attention, they flap over and attack. (50 exp)
- The bats are discovered to be frankensteinian conglomerates of many parts with men's faces and hairy dog bodies etc, during the battle Jojo mind-controls one of them and uses it as a mount. (50 exp)
- Also during the battle, John Doe attempts to grapple a bat-thing and ends up being hoisted into the air and mobbed. He manages to spin around and kill a bunch of them before being carried off to their roost. (50 exp)
- The witches arrive too late to help, one casting a strange spell on Jojo (which she resists) before they fly off. One is shot down from behind and her broomstick is taken, but unfortunately doesn't seem to fly under its own power. (50 exp)
- The fleeing bats and witches seem to have flown into a wide, ominous cave mouth. The party follow, and Lulu finally gets to use her flamethrower to barbecue a heap of bat-things on the inside. The survivors fly off. (50 exp)
- Further in, a stairway upwards has the heads of two slobbery pitbulls looking down. The dogs are fired upon but missed, and hurriedly withdraw. (50 exp)
- A liquidy vomity sound is heard from up the stairs and a wave of burning sludge comes washing down, burning everyone it hits. ON THAT CLIFFHANGER we end the session. (50 exp)
